9 Weeks

Well, I'm 9 weeks today and so thankful to be at this stage, despite the not-so-lovely feeling in my stomach and the super tight pants. We praise God every day for this little blessing because we know how blessed we are that the Lord has trusted us with His creation.

Since there are actually a few interesting things to highlight about this week, I guess now is as good a time as ever to start my weekly updates! I'm not ready to post pictures yet because A) There's not much to see except for my ever expanding back side and B) I haven't felt well enough to actually look appropriate for a picture.
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 9 Weeks
Size of baby: Our little one is the size of green olive or about 1 inch long
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 1 pound
Maternity Clothes: No maternity clothes yet, but my jeans aren’t fitting this morning and even my pajamas are getting tight
Gender: ???
Movement: Can’t wait!
Sleep: I sleep all night, but I don’t feel like I’m getting good rest; Abbey has graciously let me sleep a few more hours after Brian leaves
What I miss: Sweet Tea from McAlister’s & actually liking food in general
Cravings: Pretzels
Symptoms: Nausea, exhaustion, irritability, super sensitive to smells
Best Moment this week: First doctor appointment & getting our first pictures of our little one and hearing everything is ok, so far!

I do have a few prayer requests. First, in the generic lab work they did when I went to the doctor, a low grade infection was found. Unfortunately, that is all I know considering the nurse just said my doctor would go over it in my next appointment (on February 7th). I don't feel ill in any way, aside from morning sickness, so it is a little bit scary. She did mention that I will have to have antibiotics during labor which is something that I'm not a big fan of considering Brian and I are hoping to be able to go to a birthing center with no IVs or constant monitors. Please pray that whatever this infection is will just go away (I am on antibiotics right now) and that antibiotics during labor will not be a necessary procedure (of course, if it is necessary for our sweet little one to get here safely, I will do it in a heartbeat, but would just really prefer to have a natural delivery). Second, I'm really getting bored. I can't substitute teach for another week when my flu shot has taken affect and I have a really sweet friend who just lives a few blocks away that I can get out with, but there's really not much to do that doesn't cost money. I would love to learn how to better use my sewing machine and start making some things for baby, but it is so hard to focus when I don't feel well. Just pray that the Lord guides me to spend my time wisely and use it for His glory.

I've been so blessed this week by Brian's servanthood - he cooked dinner on Monday and it.was.delicious! I cannot wait - he's cooking Lasagna Toss either tonight or tomorrow night! YUM!

Thanks for all of your well wishes and blessings! I hope you are all staying warm and having a great week!

  2. teach yourself to knit! i have watched a couple youtube videos that have helped as well, but it takes a lot less focus & planning than sewing & you can find free patterns online or come up with your own once you figure out how to knit a certain shape. i have gotten loads of ideas from etsy.com to knit for babies!! especially hats :) plus needles and yarn are fairly inexpensive.
