It's Ok Thursday!

There are a few things that have been going through my mind the past couple of days that I just cannot imagine having done before Brynlee...but I'm linking up with Neely @ A Complete Waste of Makeup for "It's Ok Thursday!"

Its Ok Thursdays

  • It's ok that I have totally put sewing before showering and sleeping...and it's ok that I made a run to Hobby Lobby & Wal-Mart in my workout clothes after said not showering or sleeping!
  • It's also ok to have Brynlee's clean laundry sitting on the corner of the couch and just keep moving it over when I need to sit there because I don't want to go through it and pack away thing things that are too small!
  • And it's ok to tell Hubby he can make himself a lunch or eat Ramen when there's plenty of freezer meals I could share.
  • And finally, it's ok that Hubby put Brynlee in a onesie that doesn't fit this morning and instead of me getting out something that does fit, I'm just letting her chill in an unbuttoned onesie bunched up around her tummy...but hey, it's going to be 100 degrees today!

8 Weeks

This Week Brynlee Ann:
  • Began wearing some 0-3 month clothing...newborn clothes are slowly being packed away!
  • Began smiling really big! Rumor has it she smiled REALLY big for Granny Nanny & Papa John tonight :-)
  • Started loving her bouncy chair and mobile on her swing!
  • Got some fancy new burp cloths, compliments of mommy.
  • Had some great Daddy/Daughter time while mommy went to Hobby Lobby for more craft materials!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Praise the Lord! Today has started out just delightful! I woke up with a spirit of gratitude and excitement for life and was planning on doing a post of things that were making me feel this way, so I think I'll just go ahead and link up with Jamie, at This Kind of Love, for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

So, without further ado...
I am LOVING my morning time with my sweetpea! She is so wide awake between her first morning feeding around 6 or 7am until her 9ish feeding. After that feeding, is morning nap time, and now I have this view...

I'm also loving that my bff, Diane, had her sweet little girl on Monday and Brynlee and I can't wait to meet this sweet face!

Welcome to the world, Karley Kathryn!

Brynlee Ann and I are loving listening to the Cedarmont Kids Pandora station! I particularly loe that PraiseBaby are songs that I love to sing in church and is a nice break from the children's songs (but I love those, too!).

Since the arrival of Brynlee Ann, I have see the cutest burp cloths, travel wipes cases, bow holders and more! I am LOVING teaching myself how to make these items! This is Karley's burp cloth that will have a matching wipes case and Brynlee has a burp cloth with her monogram and she will also have a matching wipes case.

I am loving kicking this baby weight (and more!) to the curb! I joined Weight Watchers online this week! One thing I've already learned that I really need to step it up on fruit & vegetable servings!

I love that my cousin, Courtney, and her friend Kelsey came to visit!! Courtney lives in Colorado and I only get to see her about every 2 years -- so thankful for our short visit and that she got to meet Brynlee Ann!

Do I need to even mention this?! My HUNKY husband? Brynlee Ann and I are absolutely LOVING Daddy!

So blessed to have so many reminders of grace and love from our King on this Wednesday morning!

What are you loving?

Giveaway at The Happy Home

A few days ago my friend, Mallorie, announced on her blog, The Happy Home, that she had reached 100 followers and 50,000 page views! Not long after that, Mallorie messaged me and asked if I'd like to donate some Scentsy products for the giveaway -- how fun! I couldn't resist being a part of this fun giveaway, so head over to The Happy Home and get set up for your chance to win some fun stuff!

And just because I hate posting without a picture of our angel...

Burp Cloths

I have gotten so pumped up about sprucing up plain old burp cloths! I'm not the best seamstress in the world, but I'd really like to improve. I have several sewing projects I'd like to work on, but I felt that the easiest way to start was with straight-lined projects...thus, the burp cloth projects!

I learned that this thick, minky material is REALLY hard to sew to a thick burp cloth...maybe I'll learn some techniques of how to handle that, because I really like the soft material. Can't you just imagine having your face up against something that soft?? :-)

This fabric came from an old skirt that I've outgrown. I kept it in my craft box because I just loved the fabric. I think this fabric might be good for some other sewing projects, but I think it was way too thin for this burp cloth and it was REALLY hard to cut in a straight line, and therefore fold in a straight line.

I really like this fabric - it is just a plain old cotton fabric. It cut well, folded well, and sewed well. I think I lined it up a little off centered, but I'm pleased overall with my improvement.

I would LOVE some more practice -- if you would like to provide the burp cloth and fabric, I will make one (without embroidery) for free! I have burp cloths that I can provide for $2 and then we can talk about prices for fabric and embroidery :-) Leave a comment, facebook message me, or email me (512smellme@gmail.com) if you're interested in helping me out :-D

7 Weeks

This week Brynlee Ann:
  • Was dedicated by Mommy and Daddy to the Lord at Fellowship Bible Church on September 18, 2010
  • Had her first babysitters! Justin & Deandra came over so that Brian and I could go to dinner and bowling to celebrate my birthday :-)
  • Got to hang out with Granny Nanny & Papa John
  • Met Great Grandpa, Great Grandma, cousin Preston, and cousin Clayton
  • Had such an explosive poop that Mommy had to wash her carseat! (I know, terrible, I've got to document it though so that one day we can giggle about it :-D)

Birth Announcement

We ordered Brynlee Ann's birth announcements from Shutterfly. Although the price was a little higher than we would've liked, we were quite pleased with the quality of the announcements! The cards available on Shutterfly.com are so cute and the program is very easy to use to personalized the cards. Hope you enjoy it :-)

Easy Bow Holder Tutorial

The supplies you'll need:

  • ribbon
  • tulle
  • hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • scissors
  • hanger
  • Fray Check or Fray Block (not pictured)
  • yard stick

Start by cutting six, 2 yard strands of tulle. You are going to fold each strand in half and loop it around the hanger.

Set the hanger aside for now. Measure each of your ribbons to be 39 inches. Before you cut, apply Fray Check or Fray Block and let dry to prevent the ribbon from fraying.

After you've cut all the ribbons, plug in your hot glue gun and prepare the ribbons to be layered, if desired.

Measure 3 inches of ribbon and make a crease. Turn the hanger the opposite direction that you want it to be hanging. Glue the center ribbon first - glue down the 3 inches in the back. Next slide one tulle strand on either side. Repeat the gluing process for two more ribbons (one on each side). Then slide two strands of tulle on each side over and glue the final ribbons.

Turn it over to make sure everything is placed where you'd like.

The finished product:

In Brynlee Ann's new room she will have a shelf with pegs and this will likely hang from that. I have a few more projects to do, so stick around :-)

1 Month

Just realized I hadn't posted her 1 Month picture:

At 1 month old, Brynlee Ann is/has:
  • Wearing newborn diapers
  • Outgrown her preemie clothes and is working on outgrowing her newborn clothes, but 0-3 month clothes are still too big for her
  • Turning her head from side-to-side
  • Holding her head up for a few seconds when held on shoulder or during tummy time
  • Liking to lay on her side to play
  • LOVING her swing and not so much loving her bouncy chair
  • Sleeping in between feedings at night and eating every 3-3 1/2 hours during the day
  • Sleeping in her own room most nights (and only sleeping in her cradle in our room because I want to her to sometimes :-D)
