Things are different in the PNW!

Yes, there are many things that are different or missing in the Pacific Northwest, but not enough to keep me from loving it here! I am quickly falling head-over-heals in love with our new home, so I thought I'd share a little post about the things I miss from the South and things I love about the PNW!

Things I miss:

  • Hearing "y'all" {the only time we hear it here is if we're saying it or someone is mocking us}
  • Chick-fil-A {this actually may trump hearing y'all...} Ya....my friend, Holly, just had to send me a message today saying they were eating there today and missing us :-/ Good one, Holly ;-)
  • CCDC {our preschool family}
  • OKRA! {I wanted to make roasted Okra...went to Fred Meyer/Kroger...and was told you can only buy it frozen here!!!!}
  • Whataburger
  • HEB/Central Market/Whole Foods
  • A big, nice, full stocked Target
  • A church family {I missed this in Dallas, too...ready to find a church family more than anything...}
  • Tex-mex {there's a "supposed" tex-mex restaurant down the street from us...haven't gotten up the nerve to try it yet}
  • Texas Country Music {that Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban stuff just doesn't cut it}
  • The stars...no joke, they're bigger & brighter in Texas!! You think I'm kidding, don't you?
  • Oddly enough....football talk! College football talk, to be exact. NCAA or SEC football talk to be even more specific
  • BLUEBONNETS!!
'
No more yearly pictures in the bluebonnets :(

Things I'm loving:
  • The weather! {I'm not bothered by the rain in the slightest...yet!}
  • Parks, parks, parks! {Boulevard Park is my favorite so far!!}
  • Perch and Play
  • WATER! Not many manmade lakes around here & no drought - we have a GORGEOUS bay!
  • Restaurants who source their food from local & organic farms!
  • The nicest people ever!! I have not met a single person who has been rude. Everyone is so genuine and friendly here!
  • We have neighbors who just moved here from Huntsville, Texas...like last week...and the hubby works at the same company as my hubby!
  • The playground outside our front door
  • The nature preserve behind our back porch
  • Seeing Bald Eagles in real life! And otters, too!
  • The Woods Coffee....it trumps Starbucks...just sayin'
  • We have no AC in our house...which to some sounds insane, but to us that is a sign that summers hear are not deadly and that our electricity bill won't give us a heart attack :)
  • FaceTime! Family and friends are only a click away with this fabulous invention!
  • NEW FRIENDS! Including a sweet new friend, Mackenzie, who will be coming to play with Brynlee Ann twice a week so that I can make business appointments. SUCH a blessing!
  • The "F" family who is just about an hour drive from us! We are able to have weekly get togethers and OH, how I love those times!

Obviously, I want to come add to the list, so stay tuned, y'all! I'll be sure to let you know when I've added to the list!

**Funny thing, I was writing this post and I happened to see this Buzzfeed about the 50 Sure Signs that Texas Is Utopia and I chuckled because several of the things are things I mentioned about missing about Texas and at the end of the post, it spoke to me....

  1. Ha, love it! These are my fav things I miss from TX too. I've lived in some pretty amazing cities since leaving TX, but there are just some things you can't find anywhere else but TX :)
