From Washington, with Love

Well, shall we say 3rd time is a charm?

I have officially changed this blog three times now! Each time I have started blogging it has been for major milestones in our life.

1st blog = Pregnancy & Our darling girl joining our family
2nd blog = Changing our eating habits and becoming a healthier family
3rd blog = Transplanting this Texas girl, Hubby, and Our darling girl (ODG for short) to Washington state!

So most of you know where we come from and why we're here now. But for purposes of journaling our life, I'll give a brief synopsis of our journey.

Before Christmas, Hubby began applying for a job in Washington. Not thinking much of it, we continued our life as "normal" in Texas. Quite rapidly that all changed for us. In late January, Hubby accepted the job, we traveled up to Washington to find a home to move our little family, and in mid-February we traveled the Oregon Trail...except we kept going on all the way up to Washington...almost to Canada! {fun fact :: we can get to Canada quicker here than we could've driven to Dallas from our old house in Texas}

And here we are. I know that Texas was blessed by God {ya know, that song  God Bless Texas?} but this place is GORGEOUS!

Some highlights of our first 2 weeks here:
  • We've experienced bi-polar weather - sunny, rain, snow all in the same day!
  • On the weather note, I experienced my first big snow - 10 inches 3 days after we got here!
  • Sunny days here are so beautiful words & pictures don't do it justice. On sunny days we sometimes postpone or skip nap to enjoy HOURS outside {leaving for a part as soon as I finish this post}
  • I have learned {already} not to let rain stand in the way of my day!
  • I've met some of the most genuine, sweet people! I meet people and get to know people {including a new, sweet friend, Natalie} everywhere I go -- one of my most favorite "hang outs" or work locations is The Woods Coffee! {it's better than Starbucks, I swear!!}
  • We attended church with some new friends
  • There are the most AMAZING local, fresh, organic restaurants here!
  • Hubby absolutely LOVES his job! He comes home and is in the best mood...so thankful for this opportunity!

Things we are looking forward to:
  • St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday - rain or shine...let's pray for shine!
  • We may have to wait until next season, but skiing will be a must!
  • Finding a church to call home
  • Growing my business
  • Summer days -- I want to hike, kayak, go on bike rides, and so much more!

I hope y'all will stay with me as I share about our new town from the eyes of a Texas Girl :)

  1. Hi! I saw your foster care posting and had to know more about your little family. :) You've got a nice little blog here. I'm curious though, why the title? What's the play on "tails" (not tales)? I'm so curious. ;)
